Illustrious Sirs, Chief Rabbans, Members of the Divan Nobles and Ladies: 2016 SASA President Mike Mathews and I wanted to make you aware of the events planned for the SASA Spring Meeting for 2016, so you can set aside the dates and promote it with your Nobility. Some of you have never been to Nashville and we have tried to compact a lot of activities into the weekend. Please keep in mind the Inn at Opryland Hotel, where we will be staying will honor the group rates we have for this event for three days either before or after the dates of the meeting, so if some of your group would like to extend your stay and see even more of Nashville, it would be an opportune time to do so. We have attempted to put together a busy weekend and hope you plan to come and enjoy a great weekend in Nashville. There are many things to do so feel you will enjoy, so please plan on joining us. Our hotel for the Spring Meeting will be the Inn at Opryland, a Gaylord Hotel, just across from the Opryland Hotel. The address is 2401 Music Valley Drive, Nashville, TN, 37214-1002, (615)-889-0800. The rate is $145 per night plus tax. Hotel reservations may be made directly with the hotel and requesting the SASA rate. Hotel can be booked anytime between now and February 25th, 2016. We urge you to make your reservations and registration early! Also for you to consider and save driving, Opryland has shuttles with unlimited use to the Opryland Hotel, the Opry Mills Mall and downtown Nashville. The normal charge is $20 pp per day, but gave us a rate of $30 pp for the entire weekend with unlimited use. We are enclosing the registration forms, and wanted to give you an advance notice to assist you in planning your next year. I would urge you to make your reservations and send your registration forms in early. This will help us tremendously in planning a great weekend visit to Nashville. It will be upon us before you know it. The following is a list of some of the activities to take in while in Nashville. If you should have any questions or comments, don’t hesitate to contact Mike Mathews or myself. Thursday March 17 Thursday, you can explore the many various activities to do in Nashville, the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, Opryland Shopping Mall, the Grand Ole Opry, Downtown on Broadway, the Ryman Auditorium (site of original Opry), the Parthenon, The Hermitage, Antique Archeology and a whole host of other interesting sites to see. Thursday night is set aside to go to downtown Nashville on the shuttles at your own leisure to take in more of the downtown areas of interest or go to the Grand Ole Opry at the nearby Opry House. This evening will be at your own pace and will bring many to Downtown on Broadway, with all the nightlife you can imagine, fine restaurants, BBQ joints, and you have to at least look in the door at Tootsies, a historical landmark, next to Ryman Auditorium, where the Opry stars would step over and have one, between sets. There are just so many others places to see in this neat part of town!! Friday March 18 Nobles- Imperial Membership Seminar For the Ladies, we have planned an eventful day for the Ladies. Buses will take them to Fontanel, the former home of Barbara Mandrell. This log home is over 27,000 square feet and was a one-family residence for years. The tour is guided to tell all about the home’s history, exhibits and the use of the home both back then and today. There is a wine tasting, distillery and shops added at the entrance to this fabulous property. Don’t miss it. Their website is very interesting. http://www.fontanelmansion.com/attractions/fontanel-mansion/. After the Fontenal trip, the ladies will go to the Opry Mills Mall, adjacent to the Opry Building and Opryland Hotel for lunch and an afternoon of shopping and sightseeing. Shuttles will transport you from any of these location back to the hotel, which is just across Music Valley Drive. General Jackson Dinner Cruise….We have planned a Dinner Show and Cruise on the General Jackson Showboat. For those who want to experience travel on the river on a paddleboat, the music and fine food, we are taking a Dinner Cruise on the General Jackson, complete with fine dinner and show included. We will depart about 5:30 to 6 pm. Shuttle will take us to dockside where we will board and tour the boat. There we will tour the boat, be served dinner and enjoy the show as well as the lights of Downtown Nashville, at the foot of Broadway, where we turn around and return to the Opryland Dock at 10 pm. Take a look at their website: http://www.generaljackson.com/evening-show.
