The S.A.S.A. Fall Minutes - September 23, 2017

SOUTH ATLANTIC SHRINE ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the Business Meeting

September 23, 2017 – 3:00 pm

Holiday Inn, Greensboro, NC

President Steve Tucker (Jamil) called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m. in the Holiday Inn Ballroom. President Tucker led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance. SASA Chaplain Ill. Sir John Stanley (Oasis) offered the invocation.

President Steve Tucker welcomed everyone to the 2017 Fall Business session. He explained that after the Mayor of Myrtle Beach canceled all special permits which included both our parade and the Beach Luau Picnic on September 7 and then the Governor ordered an evacuation of the coastal areas on September 8, it forced us to cancel our Fall Festival in Myrtle Beach for the first time since the formation of SASA in 1974. Thus, per our Bylaws, we gave the 10-day notice to have this meeting to perform the necessary duties required to be performed at the annual business meeting. Our Bylaws require that we have 20 members of the Association, representing at least six Shrine Temples.

President Steve Tucker reported that we hope to close out most of the Myrtle Beach contracts, payments and reimbursements from the vendors in the next few weeks. We will also be mailing reimbursement checks going back to the temples for the Noble registrations, Beach Luau, Ladies Luncheon & Golf in the next few weeks.

President Steve Tucker then introduced the 2016-2017 SASA officers as follows:
Ill. Sir Donald Ratliff, Secretary/Treasurer (Kazim); Nobel Ralph Calhoun (Omar); 5th Vice President, Ill. Sir Dave Juergens, PP, 4th Vice President (Kosair); Ill.
